Evidence-based analytics at the intersection of road safety, public data and BI

This page presents research outputs, publications and applied analytical work developed in collaboration with the ANYWAY project (Data for Change NGO) and the Holon Institute of Technology.

The research focuses on micromobility safety in Tel Aviv, combining longitudinal crash data analysis, multi-source integration, and BI tools designed to support evidence-based decision-making by municipal authorities.

From Data to Safer E-Scooter Rides: An Open Safety Dashboard for Tel Aviv

Affiliation: ANYWAY / Data for Change NGO · Holon Institute of Technology

This paper presents a BI system developed for the Tel Aviv municipality, integrating 12.5 years of national crash data with GIS, rider surveys and enforcement records.

Core contribution: a systematic analytical framework examining crash volume and severity as two independent dimensions simultaneously — across time, location, demographics and road conditions. This reveals contrasting patterns invisible to single-indicator analysis.

The dashboard was demonstrated to Tel Aviv municipality representatives and presented at the Technion ISTRC conference.

E-Scooter Solo Crash Underreporting in Tel Aviv

Analysis of the gap between official police records, CBS crash database and municipal rider survey data.

Key finding: official statistics capture approximately 5% of real solo crash events — a 15–24× underreporting factor with major policy implications.

Research Report · 2026

Impact of Israel's 2021 Helmet Law on E-Scooter Safety in Tel Aviv

Pre/post analysis using three independent data sources: CBS crash data, municipal rider survey, and enforcement fine records.

Key findings: helmet compliance rose from ~52% to ~70% after legislation; passenger protection remains critically low despite the law.

My contribution: designed the core metric framework to quantify the demand–supply gap as a measurable target variable for predictive modeling — a foundational methodological decision for the whole project.

Also contributed to analysis, Tableau visualization and paper editing.
